We waited in class for Ryan, but he did not show up. I wasn't able to get much done on front page. I did play around with it for a while and tried to work with it's tools and features. As far as my research is going, it's a work in progress. I actually am waitin for Dell to send me a new adapter for my laptop. My laptop hasn't been charged because my adapter broke and I have my files saved on my laptop. I'm a bit frustrated, I'm workin on my web essay based on the links that I have sent to my emails and some files I saved on my flash drive.

Key points about copy right
Originally, copyrights were extended for 14 years. Since then copyrighted has been extended to virtually forever. It may seem to discourage the creation of new ideas. Copy right is built on the model, that the profit has the right to be inherited and can transcend multiple generations. Individual author is the creator and is entitled to fruit of their labor because they created it.(Copy Right’s idea). Now the idea of Copy Left is that an idea can be borrowed as long as it is cited. In their perspective, every idea is borrowed and changed. Authors are like networkers in their eyes, people that bring ideas together. They believe consumers are active, creative, and have the right to change, rework and interact with the works that they are consuming.

Reflection on the youtube video on copyright
I was quite amused with the video. I thought it was clever and very cute. It was a parody and used for an educational purpose so I don't think it voilated copyright laws. It has also been posted on the internet for a over a year now? That surprised me. I thought it would recieve complaints, but then again it doesn't seem to be violating any copyright issues. It used small clips from the movies and cited it sources in the credits section. The ones who created that little video clip were not trying to make money off of it, nor were they "lessen the value" of the movies (in my opinion). With that in mind, I stand firm in my belief that they did not violate copy right issues.
I agree with Copy left, works that are circulated now and are published, must have come from borrowed ideas. General knowledge ,a growing availability of sources and passed information, means that people share ideas. So who is to get the credit? I think borrowing ideas are okay as long as people give credit to who it's due to.
I am a little confused with the whole copyright issue when it comes to sequels and alternate endings. For example, what about that book and broadway show "Wicked". Isn't that supposed to tell the story about the life of a witch from the wizard of oz? Doesn't that in some way violate copyright issues, because it elaborates on the life of a character that already exists in another story/movie?
I'll be posting a nother blog on my reflection of Collins soon.
