Reflection on Collins

I believe that Megan's parents should have monitored what their daughter was doing on the internet. I'm not defending the Drews. I'm saying Megan's parents should have followed up on what her daughter was doing on the computer. Megan was not old enough to have myspace and she was emotionally disturbed. I've met parents who put time limits on the computers and required passwords in order to access the internet. The internet is a dangerous place for young children.

As for the Drews, I believe Lori Drew should not have made a fake account to talk to a young girl. What kind of example was she trying to set for her children? I think that adults should leave children alone on the internet, but obviously that's never going to happen.

Parents should be more involved in the lives of their children. Kids are scared to bring up private issues. If children fear talking to their parents, then there are no open lines of communication. A child may result to talking to other people on the internet, whether dangerous or not.

I believe it's sad that the young girl died but she chose to take her life. The internet can not be limited. It would violate the rights of others. How could they possibly monitor every thing that goes on in the internet?
