I'm not sure if I did this correctly . I was a little thrown off with the numbering and ranking. I was under the impression that I was to rate a each activitiy from a scale of 1-5. i did that under number 6.
1. Computer is the only media I use on a regular basis. When I was about five years old I think the media that I interacted with the most was the television but I was usually playing with my siblings and playing outside. At the age of ten i was still on the television but at fifteen years old I was on the computer the most. I think the computer and radio had a big impact on my teenage years.
2.The amount of time I spend on the computer can range from fifteen minutes a day to about two hours. This is for relaxation purposes, chatting with friends, emails, talking to family, webcam so i can chat with my cousins from other states. I only use my Ipod when I'm cleaning or at the gym. I try to go to the gym for at least an hour a day, about four days a week. i also have my ipod on when I'm studying at the library. I study for at least three hours a day.
3.If were were to count my academic hours on the computer such as my online classes, then I'm on the computer for a much longer time. For reading assignments I'm on the computer for about 2 hours a day. Reading assignments usually take up two hours of my day because I'm taking so many english courses. My Writing assignments usually take aup about three hours of my day.Math assignments take up half an hour of my day.
4.When I'm driving, I have the radio on. When I'm eating alone, I'm usually in a rush so I don't have time to do anything else but eat real quick. When I'm eating with friends and family, there is no media present. When I'm cleaning and cooking, I usually have my ipod with me.
5. When I relax, I'm ususally on the computer talking to friends or I'm out with my friends eating. Sometimes we watch movies, but I don't have the patience to sit through a movie. I have short attention span and end up playing with my cellphone or falling asleep.
a. computer = 5 because on the computer, I'm usually on the phone, or I have more than one website open at a time. I'm also listening to music. Driving= 1 because it requires deep attention. I have the music on low so I don't get carried away with what I"m listening to, but I don't like silence that's why I keep the radio on. Eating= 4 because I usually have someone to talk or I'm in a rush to leave so I'm watching the time and rushing out of the kitchen. Cleaning and cooking= 3 because I'm cleaning, trying to get a task done but at the same time I'm listening to the radio. Movies= 5 because I can't sit still, I end up talking on the phone, bothering the person that is sitting next to me, folding clothes (if I'm at home) or falling asleep because I get so bored with every movie.
b. Reading = 1 I need deep attention for my reading assignments. Writing assignments is 1= I need deep attention for that as well.Math assignments is about 2 - I can study with music on. 1+1+2=4 4/3= 1.3333
c. 5+1+4+3+3+5+1+1+2= 2525/9= 5.8
6. a. The category I'm most likely to use hyper attention is when I'm on the computer because I'm on the phone, listening to music, chatting, reading etc. The one that require deep attention is when I'm studying for English and doing writing assignments etc. My attention varies. If I'm studying I'm in deep attention.
b. The activity with the largest number is being on the computer because I'm multi tasking. Even when I'm studying on the computer, I'm using my books.
c. In which category did you have the most consistent style? Why do you think this is so? THe most consistent style is when i'm studying. I'm in my deep thinking.
7. How would you characterize yourself in terms of patterns for attending? These numbers reflect what I spend the most time with in my daily routine.
1.Computer2.Phone3.IPOD 4.Books5.Radio6. Television
